Recently held at Kanakia International School, Chembur, the PYP Atelier exhibition showcased an array of stunning art forms including clay sculptures, paper artworks, digital creations, photography, and film. From the intricate details to the awe-inspiring visuals, this exhibition transported visitors to a realm where creativity knew no bounds

KIS IB learners radiated enthusiasm as they created heartfelt keepsakes for their mothers. With messages, handmade cards, bookmarks, and even crafted flowers, they expressed their gratitude and admiration. Through these gestures, the learners honored their mother, acknowledging her unwavering support and making her feel cherished on Mother’s Day.

Today, KIS IB marked the occasion of Easter with various activities. The day began with a captivating story narrating the significance and history behind the Easter celebrations. Later on, the learners indulged in creative activities, such as making Easter headbands and coloring and decorating eggs. The students were also thrilled to participate in an Easter egg hunt, eagerly searching for hidden treasures. As the day progressed, the learners relished the delicious Easter treats shared by the Nursery learners, adding to the festive mood.

At Kanakia International School Chembur, we believe in instilling a sense of responsibility and sustainability in our students from a young age. That’s why we recently celebrated Global Recycling Day with great enthusiasm and participation from our students. The event was a fantastic opportunity for our students to learn more about the importance of recycling and how they can make a positive impact on the environment.

Kanakia Kids IB celebrated the festival of colours with a lot of excitement. There were various activities conducted like splat art, play with colours, hand printing, magic painting, blow painting and so on. A collaborative early years assembly was conducted for story telling on why do we celebrate Holi. Later the kids played Holi by putting colours on each other and dancing with joy.

As Mahatma Gandhi once said, “The greatness of a nation can be judged by the way its animals are treated.” With this in mind, KIS IB celebrated World Wildlife Day with great enthusiasm, donning their favorite wild animal costumes and creating posters to spread a message of saving wildlife. As a final touch, they even made wild animal headbands to show their love and respect for the animal kingdom.

World Book Day is a celebration of authors, illustrators, books and, most importantly, reading. It is a day to share the joy of books and reading with others.” – Kirsten Grant, Director of World Book Day. World Book Day was enthusiastically celebrated by KIS IB. Students were attired in cozy pajamas and had their favorite story books and reading buddies. A variety of engaging activities were organized, including a bookmark-making contest and the creation of personalized story books. The students crafted a diverse range of books, including wordless books, books with only words and no pictures, and books with both pictures and words.

A special surprise for our learners in the school! The learners at Kanakia International School, Chembur (IB) celebrated the spirit of LOVE at school today.  The highlight was the parents surprising their kids by sending a valentines card with a message for them. The learners were awestruck and the happiness on their face had no limits. Later, they too made a card for their loved ones and took a red heart Balloon home. They took an oath to spread love and happiness wherever they go.

Makar Sankranti is considered a very auspicious day and it is believed any sacred ritual or task can be started or performed on this day and it will be fruitful. It marks the beginning of the harvesting season and the end of the chilly winter season. Learners at Kanakia Kids, Chembur celebrated Makar Sankranti in a unique way. They made nutritious laddoos as a part of the parent-learner engagement activity. They also received til-gud and a colorful kite as a takeaway.

Learning has always been fun for our learners. In the recently conducted Masterminds competition, our tiny tots from Early Years received certificates of appreciation for participating in the competition where they appeared for English, Maths, and Science subjects.

The most exciting part of the year – Christmas always brings bundle of joy for our KIS learners. This year we celebrated Christmas Carnival where lots of fun activities, rides, along with delicious food was served. Kids dressed up and participated in the joy rides, bouncing slides and many other activities.

A POOL PARTY was organized for the Early years learners on 11th November. The kids enjoyed romping around the slides, pools, sprinklers, playing with water balloons, bubbles, and grooving to the music. A planetarium show was also organised for all students to provide an opportunity to zoom into outer space and learn about celestial objects and man’s endeavour to explore them. On 14th November, an Art Fair was organized for the early years students to explore and reflect creatively using open ended materials and have fun with nature.

The students of Kanakia Kids (RBKIS) embarked on a field trip to a Plant Nursery, where they had the chance to observe and explore a wide variety of plants, flowers, soil, seeds, leaves, and more. The children delighted in the diverse colors, textures, and natural materials surrounding them, providing a rich sensory experience. What excited them even more was the realization that the materials they use during their horticulture sessions at school are interconnected with the workings of a real plant nursery. This hands-on experience allowed them to truly relate to the subject matter, reinforcing their understanding of horticulture. And, of course, the little ones were absolutely thrilled to get their feet all muddy in the soil puddles at the nursery.

Kanakia Kids IS embraced the vibrant spirit of Elmer Day, a celebration of colors, reading, elephants, and acceptance. Inspired by Elmer the Patchwork Elephant, our little learners donned colorful patchwork attire and immersed themselves in joyful games and group activities inspired by Elmer’s story. With enthusiasm, nursery children celebrated their learning through the enchanting tale of Elmer.

The International Day of Families is celebrated worldwide on May 15. It is a day that highlights the importance of families in society and promotes the well-being of individuals and communities. Kanakia Kids International School celebrated the International Day of Families with Fam Fiesta Event. Our tiny tots were invited with their families to attend a fun-filled program where activities like creating an acrostic poem on the word family, and Fam Thumb print were planned to help families imprint their thumb impressions on air-dry clay and create a memento. The same was then converted into fridge magnets and handed over to the families for them to take home and cherish forever. Families also rocked the ramp with their swagger as they participated in the ramp walk competition. It was a fun and frolic time for our families and they truly basked in the pleasure to the fullest..“

The first day of kindergarten is an emotional and exciting time for parents and learners alike, marking a transition into formal schooling. To help our Nursery learners feel more comfortable and engaged, teachers planned fun-filled games like “Fun with Balls” and “Stationary Race” for them. They also took the learners on a school tour, where they eagerly explored different areas like the cafeteria, other classrooms, admin area, and play lab.

To raise funds for this cause, the Kanakia Kids IS students collected a certain amount by helping with household chores, with the parents equally supporting their efforts. With the funds raised, the Children’s Council members purchased books to donate to the Cancer Care Home. The virtual meeting was organized to facilitate a better understanding of the children and their needs. We would like to express our gratitude to the Children’s Council members, particularly the Finance and Education Ministers, for initiating this social cause and giving back to society. Furthermore, we encourage our students to develop independence and confidence by participating in daily chores. We are also grateful to the parents for their support and encouragement of this initiative.

Step into the world of young creatives with our film and photography exhibition at Kanakia Kids. Featuring photographs, short films, and stop motion films made by our little learners, this exhibition celebrated the power of creativity and imagination in early childhood education. Witness the world through the eyes of our preschoolers and be amazed by their unique perspectives and innovative techniques. From candid snapshots to imaginative narratives, this showcase is a testament to the importance of fostering creativity and self-expression in our youngest learners.

Paper has secret qualities which are capable of posing new questions and discovering new points of view. In our recently conducted Secrets of Paper Atelier activity, our learners explored these hidden qualities of paper by doing 2d and 3d Paper cityscapes, Paper ornaments (rings), Paper curls, and much more.

Sometimes, the best memories are created when you connect with nature. In their recently conducted activity ‘Muddy with Buddy’, the learners played with mud along with their buddies. They played till their shirts got stained and memories got etched in their minds. The event received amazing feedback from the parents as even they enjoyed making shapes out of the mud along with their kids.

Kanakia Kids Global recently observed World UFO Day on July 2nd, commemorating the alleged UFO crash during the 1947 Roswell incident. The purpose of the event was to increase awareness about the undeniable presence of UFOs and to acknowledge the possibility that humans are not alone in the vast universe. During the celebration, the young learners at Kanakia Kids Global dressed up in homemade alien costumes, while others opted to portray UFOs. Kanakia Kids Global learners, for example, visited a car wash garage and witnessed the importance of maintaining and caring for one of our primary modes of transportation. It’s the season of Joy! Creating a joyful and memorable experience for our preschoolers, we transformed our classrooms into a winter wonderland with colourful decorations, twinkling lights, and adorable Christmas-themed displays.

In Junior KG, the theme was ‘My Neighbourhood,’ where parents joined their kids for role-playing, allowing children to describe it in a few sentences. In Senior KG, the topic was ‘Recreation and Entertainment,’ and parents enthusiastically participated through role-playing, picture discussions, and explained the projects they created.

This year khadi week celebration was a memorable and educational experience for our young learners in the pre primary section .The event aimed to instill a sense of patriotism, promote sustainable practices and teach the children about the rich cultural of India.

Shadow art transports us to a mesmerizing realm where shadows come alive. It’s a canvas for our creativity and imagination to craft beautiful images and weave captivating stories through the play of light and darkness. Our Junior KG class embarked on an exhilarating journey into this enchanting world of shadow art.

Immersed in the rich, velvety world of chocolate, children and teachers came together in the Pre Primary Section to celebrate the delectable phenomenon known as ‘Chocolate Day.’ On this delightful occasion, the air was filled with the irresistible aroma of cocoa as everyone indulged in their favorite chocolate treats. The day started with enlightening discussions led by passionate teachers, who shared fascinating insights into the origins, processing techniques, and diverse varieties of chocolates. The eager young minds absorbed these nuggets of knowledge, gaining a deeper appreciation for the world of chocolate. The day was about experiencing the sheer joy that chocolate brings. The enthusiastic young chefs were treated to the display of live chocolate making right in their own classroom.

STEM education empowers young children, fostering critical thinking skills to solve problems. Through engaging STEM experiences in kindergarten, children learn to analyze problems and devise plans for solutions. In our Jr. KG STEM class, learners were provided with materials like paper, glasses, clay, and candy sticks to unleash their creativity. Excitedly exploring, these tiny tots exercised their choice to think independently and share their innovative creations with friends. In Sr. KG, the class delved into the fascinating world of magnets, discovering their attraction to iron objects. This hands-on exploration sparked curiosity and awe among the students.

The pre-primary and grade 1 learners of Hanumant High School participated in an exciting pool party to beat the heat and have a blast with water play activities. The poolside was transformed into a lively scene, adorned with vibrant balloons, balls, and an array of water toys provided to the children. The enthusiastic students arrived dressed in colorful swimsuits, ready to dive into the fun-filled extravaganza. The atmosphere was further enhanced with lively music, creating the perfect mood for enjoyment. Through splashing and maneuvering in the pool, they not only had a great time but also strengthened their motor skills, improved balance, and honed their ability to navigate through water.

Every year, on June 21, the world comes together to observe the International Day of Yoga, a global celebration established in 2015. Yoga, an invaluable contribution from ancient Indian tradition, has proven to be a reliable method for enhancing both physical and mental well-being. The theme chosen for this year’s International Yoga Day is “Yoga for Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam,” encapsulating our shared desire for a unified world where we recognize that we are all part of one Earth, one family, and one future.

On June 5th, 2023, Hanumant High School organized a Teachers’ Assembly for World Environment Day. The event aimed to raise awareness among students about the importance of environmental preservation. The assembly began with energetic prayers performed by the Admin Staff and teaching staff. Nikunj Sir presented an informative PowerPoint on the Earth’s history. The teachers surprised the students with a nature-themed dance, conveying the message that nature is vital for our survival and development.

Teaching by theme is an effective approach to explore a particular topic through various activities. It allows young children to focus on a broad subject while delving into specific knowledge and helps them make connections and apply their learning in meaningful ways. Recently, in Nursery and Jr. KG classes, the teacher taught themes related to transport, letters, aquatic and polar animals, and finally, wrapped up with the last quarter’s theme. Teachers taught using engaging methods such as stories, flashcards, Google slides, and drama. In the final quarter, a role play activity was conducted where the children dressed up in costumes related to the given theme and presented it in a demonstrative way. The young learners confidently spoke about the topic, and the activity helped them develop a better vocabulary and a deeper understanding of the subject.

The 7th edition of the Annual Super Reader Award ceremony was recently held at RBK Hanumant High School’s auditorium. The ceremony recognized the outstanding achievements of the Reader’s Club students who were awarded trophies for their efforts in reading. Mrs. Radhika Hariyani, a representative of the school’s management, commended the students for their hard work and encouraged them to read at least two books annually. She stressed the importance of books in enhancing vocabulary and knowledge. The event was attended by the entire student and teacher community, and its aim was to motivate students to read more and improve their language skills.

During a recap, the session focused on skip counting by 10 and 5, aquatic animals, various modes of transportation, and phonetic sounds of the alphabet, our pre-primary students engaged in play-based learning and had a wonderful time.

The day was made special and memorable by various activities. Jr. kg. and Nursery students performed rhymes with action for their seniors, while Sr. kg students made their own robes a day prior to the event and took home a personalized token with their personal details and hand-print on it. The students were filled with happiness and excitement as they were presented with their caps and robes.

Our little learners dressed up in beautiful costumes related to the given theme and presented their knowledge in a demonstrative way. This activity helped the learners develop a good vocabulary and learn in detail about the given topic.

English class of Jr. Kg., an extensive tracing and three-letter word activity was conducted from February to March 2023. The teacher provided guidance to the students as they traced the words and matched the letter puzzle with the corresponding picture flash card. This activity proved to be an effective way to develop the children’s handwriting skills while making the learning process fun and engaging.

To recap their learning on telling time, Sr. kg. students engaged in an activity called “Roll a dice”. In this game, they took turns throwing the dice to represent different times and set the clock hands accordingly. This approach helps students to understand the O’clock concept while building a solid foundation of early math skills through hands-on learning and fun experiences.

Celebrating “National Science Day,” our young learners from Nursery, K1, and K2, Kanakia Kids, Mira Road, engaged in interactive experiments around “rainbow shadow, soap and black pepper, magnetic power experiment, lava lamp experiment, Charles Law of Simple Experiment, and more.”

Unleashing their understanding of STREAM concepts, along with displaying their communication skills through various experiments, our young learners captured the attention of our audiences.

The school mascot, affectionately known as Gigi celebrated its 4th birthday with great enthusiasm and festivity. The event brought together learners, teachers, and staff to commemorate the cherished symbol of school spirit and unity. The school foyer was transformed into a vibrant celebration venue with floral decor.

The Kanakia Kids Sports Day took a whimsical turn this year as we embraced the vibrant world of cartoon characters. Sr.kg embraced the heroic spirit of the Avengers during their sports day, while Jr.kg added a touch of whimsy with the Looney Tunes theme. Meanwhile, the nursery section brought the fun and excitement of Cartoon Network to their sports day celebration.

Fun, games, and happiness! Discovering the marvels of our “Farm Fest” event, parents and young learners had the opportunity to participate in interactive learning sessions, engage in farm-themed activities, and discover what makes learning at Kanakia Kids so much fun!

Celebrations like Janmashtami these teach our children, the rich mythological history of our country as they learn to respect and value all religions. Our little learners of Kanakia Kids celebrated Janmashtami with great zeal and enthusiasm.

Kanakia Kids conducted the investiture ceremony in our grand auditorium on the 15th of July 2023. The ceremony’s noble purpose was to ignite a flame of passion and integrity within our young learners, encouraging them to embrace leadership roles with zeal. This momentous occasion provided a unique opportunity for our students to witness the profound respect bestowed upon the elected council members. The significance of leadership and teamwork became vividly apparent, leaving a lasting impression on the hearts and minds of our learners.

Kanakia Kids’ initiative to foster civic engagement and empower young minds was a success by organizing the “Children’s Council” election on July 12, 2023. This event introduced the concept of democracy to the children, emphasizing the importance of collective decision-making. Through this experience, the young learners gained a profound understanding of the role of leaders and the responsibilities that accompany such positions. The election process served as a valuable lesson, teaching the children that voting is a fair and inclusive method of decision-making, where every opinion holds significance. By actively participating in the election, the kids learned that their voices matter and that they play a crucial role in shaping their community.

Kanakia Kids, Mira Road recently celebrated UFO Day and stepped into the galaxy of Wonder and Amazement. It was a day filled with Extraterrestrial Excitement, Intergalactic Activities, and Cosmic Delights as the learners explored the Mysteries of the Universe. The learners witnessed spectacular UFO Displays and experienced the thrill of imaginary space travel. Our learners unleashed their inner astronaut at the Ultimate UFO Day Celebration.
